Saul Bass is known as one of the best motion graphics designers for film, as he has created the title sequences of over 60 films,often worked with directors Martin Scorsese, and Alfred Hitchcock. As a motion graphic designer, I found his work inspiring and timeless. I really like the editing and the typographic treatment and bear in mind they were done in the 60s. Saul died in 1996.

I haven't tried this yet, but many people say RIA is the next big thing and Adobe is the front runner of Apollo. You can't go wrong with this one. Heres an Apollo demo
